Iowa Paddlesport Expo

Expo is back!!
On Saturday, March 29th from 9 am to 6 pm CanoeSport will host the Iowa Paddlesport Expo. This event was last held in 2020, and we’re excited to reintroduce it. This year will be a scaled down version with no outside venues. All presentations will take place in our retail store. If there are too many attendees for the limited space, the presentation will be offered again in an open time slot.
In addition to the presentations below; there will be impromptu conversations on the sales floor about paddles, lifejackets, roof racks, and other paddling related activities.

9am - "Exploring Lake Red Rock" - John Pearson
John is a well known paddling legend on Lake Red Rock. He has explore every inch of shoreline both as a paddler and as a naturalist with the DNR. John will share pictures and stories of paddling through all the season, share history of the area, and inspire you to explore this Iowa wonder.

11am - "Explore the Wabakimi Area" - Vern Fish
The Wabakimi Area is a vast, virtually roadless wilderness the size of Vermont located three hours north of Thunder Bay, Ontario. It can be accessed by more than 4,000 miles of historically and culturally significant canoe routes. Learn how you can access this huge network of rivers and lakes and help the Friends of Wabakimi protect its wilderness values.
1pm - "Spring Break at Lake Powell" - Shireen Cave
Shireen has led over 10 trips to Lake Powell with the University of Iowa. See the beauty of the Glen Canyon Recreational Area and the waters of Lake Powell as she shares pictures and stories from her trip. She will share her experiences as a guide for students who often have no experience camping or paddling and the delight that can be found in unexpected places.

3pm - "Paddle the Upper Ocoee" - Piper Wall

5pm - "Explore the Georgia Coast" - Jeff Holmes
Jeff is the owner of CanoeSport Outfitters has been up and down the coast of Georgia and has led multi day surf training and instruction classes for 15 years. Come see pictures of his 8 day coastal journey and hear stories of taking students out to learn how to surf. Get excited for our big Georgia Trip announcement!!​
