Come join CanoeSport Outfitters for a weekend of rentals and the opportunity to test paddle an Eddyline Kayak on Blue Heron Lake at Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7 from 11 am to 4 pm.

 

This is a one time, early season rental day, prior to the start of our regular rental schedule. It allows us to conduct staff training, set up our building, and check out rental equipment before the actual season starts. We will be offering rentals of canoes, kayaks, stand up paddleboards, and paddle boats. Regular hourly rental rates apply. There will be no day rentals available on these two days. Again, this is not the beginning of our season. Unless otherwise announce, we will open for the season beginning on the Saturday before Memorial Day, which is May 27th.

 

Interested in discovering the difference in paddling ease and performance of a low cost rental kayak versus a lightweight, thermoformed kayak from Eddyline? Great! This is your opportunity to do so. Just let staff at the rental building know you want to try the Eddyline Kayaks. A waiver and rental agreement will need to be completed and the one hour rental fee of $15.00 will need to be paid. Rick Thompson, the manufacturer representative for Eddyline Kayaks and staff from CanoeSport Outfitters will be on the beach to answer your questions and get you out in the kayak best suited to your height, weight, and paddling interests. We’ll have recreational kayaks, sit-on-tops, touring kayaks, and a sea kayak or two. Models we expect to have on hand will include the Sky 10, Rio, Skylark, Sandpiper, Caribbean 14, Equinox, Sitka ST, Sitka LT, Sitka XT, and the Fathom.

 

This event will not take place if there are high winds, a high possibility of thunderstorms, or unusually cold temperatures.
