Shireen began paddling 3 years ago. Previously a social worker Shireen discovered kayaking by walking by CanoeSport Outfitters on her lunch breaks. Having never been a kayak before she jumped in Fundamentals I and II in April during a thunderstorm. Even after a slightly rough start her interest in kayaking grew. She began working for CanoeSport at Lake Ahquabi running the rental business part time in the summer. She bought her first kayak after just a few short months of paddling and has never looked back!

A year ago she quit her day job as a social worker and came to work full-time with CanoeSport! She has been on 3 Everglades trips with CanoeSport and 2 Louisianna trips as well as a variety of other endeavors through the store. She enjoys paddling locally with most of her time spent at Lake Ahquabi and Lake Red Rock.

Recently she went up to Lake Superior and successfully completed her American Canoe Association Level 2 Certification and Trip Leader Assessment. She currently helps out teaching many kayaking classes and enjoys bringing people into the sport of kayaking. She is very excited to start to offer women's classes and trips!

In the shop Shireen enjoys doing boat repairs and getting CanoeSport into the technological age! When Shireen isn't paddling she enjoys backpacking, gardening, and cooking.
