CanoeSport's Guided Everglades Trip Was A Great Start To 2006 On January 9th, CanoeSport staff and four paddling enthusists headed out Rabbit Key pass from Everglades City. The day was sunny and warm. Winds were light and the tide was working with us. The group paddled to Rabbit Key and stayed there the first night. On Tuesday we then split up. The women stayed an extra day at Rabbit and then went approximately 6 miles to Mormon before coming back to Rabbit on Thursday afternoon. The men left Rabbit and went to New Turkey the next night. They ventured up a few of the small rivers as they made their way back to Pavillion. On Thursday they paddled the short distance back to Rabbit for the Thursday night stay. On Friday both groups waited for the tide to turn and then headed back up Rabbit Key Pass for Everglades City. Over the course of the week we enjoyed comfortable days and cool nights. We had sunny weather and no rain. It was a near perfect start to a new year.
