Everglades Adventures 2013 While it's cold and snowy in Iowa you can be enjoying a fun-filled week paddling and camping in the warmth of Everglades National Park. This 1.5 million acre preserve is mostly water, providing diverse paddling opportunities. Our trips focus on the 10,000 Island area near Everglades City. We camp on the keys, paddle the coastal waters and explore a few back country waterways. We're offering several trip opportunities in January 2011. For these trips CanoeSport Outfitters provides the paddling gear, acquires the permits, and guides the group. Each evening we'll have an activity you can participate in, or you can simply relax and soak in the experience. These trips require a minimum amount of kayaking and primitive camping experience. We'll stay in the shallow areas of the Everglades and schedule our distance according to group experience. Porpoises are often seen in this area, as are manatees. Also expect to see osprey, bald eagles, roseate spoonbill, great blue heron, and a variety of egrets. In the back country we may spot an alligator or two. You must provide your own transportation to Everglades City, your own food, camping gear, and personal items. Attending the pre-trip meeting is required. If you can't make this date we will arrange a personal meeting. Prerequisite Kayaking Fundamentals I and Kayaking Fundamentals II Pre-Trip Meeting TBA Cost $450 plus tax if you've purchased your kayak from CanoeSport Outfitters and meet us at the put-in at Everglades City with your own paddling gear. $600 plus tax if you have purchased a kayak from CanoeSport Outfitters but we provide your paddling gear or transport your gear for the trip. If you have not purchased a kayak from CanoeSport Outfitters please add an additional $200 to these prices. You must provide your own transportation to Everglades City, your own food, camping gear, and personal items. Attending a pre-trip meeting is required.
